  • UFC: Georges St Pierre vs BJ Penn 2 Fight Update

UFC Georges St Pierre vs BJ Penn 2 Fight Update: Just the concept of Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn Part II, is easily one of the most anticipated ones in the history of mixed martial arts. However, people are going to have to remain patient if they want to witness what could be the biggest MMA event of all time. According to an interview with MMAWeekly.com, UFC president Dana White has already named a specific date for this mega fight to go down in the history books.

BodogLife.com, the leader in MMA fighting betting odds, has everything you need regarding the UFC, Affliction, EliteXC, Boxing, and all other non-fighting sports.

It had originally been rumored that the St. Pierre-Penn 2 fight could happen in UFC 92 on December 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, that idea never quite concretized, and nothing could be arranged.

The UFC (155-lb) lightweight champion, B.J. Penn, has had his sights on a rematch against GSP since after their first encounter in UFC 58. That first metting concluded in a controversial split-decision in favor of the French-Canadian, but many people still believe that B.J. Penn was indeed the winner.

According manager, J.D. Penn, B.J. and his camp won’t have to wait that long, as he has revealed that Dana White has named January 31st 2009, as the day for B.J.’s invasion into the 170-lb (Middleweight) division. “He’s staying strong and focused… January 31st gives him an extra month to train,” J.D. added.

B.J. has to move up 15 pounds in order to have a shot at avenging his loss, and an opportunity to rule the middleweight class by taking St. Pierre’s 170-lb title. But that’s not the only thing in B.J.’s mind: “St. Pierre, he’s got his Canadian fans, he’s got his American fans, his fans all over the world… I could see in one night that fight jumping the sport of mixed martial arts leaps and bounds. It could be maybe the Joe Frazier/Muhammad Ali type fight that the sport is looking for right now.”

  • Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock Fight in EliteXC on CBS

Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock Fight in EliteXC on CBS: On Tuesday August 26 2008, EliteXC finally announced that Ken Shamrock will face Kimbo Slice in the October 4th main event Network special from BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, FL. Also on the Saturday night fight card will be one of the most celebrated and beautiful female mixed martial artists, Gina Carano. The stunning "American Gladiator" will be taking on Kelly Kobold-Gavin in the other, main event of the evening. EliteXC desperately needs rating success with this show, and thus, is throwing everything but the kitchen sink, as they know it's due or die for them.

The “World’s Most Dangerous Man”, Ken Shamrock (26-13-2), who is now 44-years-old, is one of the most prominent and respected fighters in the history of mixed martial arts. Kimbo Slice (3-0) is a street fighting (Internet) sensation, but is also the most doubted and questioned “MMA fighter” in the history of the sport.

People simply do not consider Kimbo a “martial artist”, and thus, don’t think he belongs in a cage or an octagon. Kimbo Slice is a lethal striker and good “street fighter” (no questions about that), but not a mixed martial artist... and yes, there’s a difference.

If you disagree with that statement, go back and watch his fight against James Thompson and look at Kimbo's ground skills... or lack thereof. Or, you can even YouTube: Kimbo Slice vs Sean Gannon the "Boston Cop", where Kimbo is protesting about knees in a "street fight", and in the end, ends up laying on the ground.

On May 31st of this year, Kimbo’s national debut fight against James Thompson drew 6.5 million viewers in the United States. Which begs the question, what did people tune to CBS to watch exactly? Kimbo Slice and the EliteXC beginning to change MMA into what Boxing is today? I mean, the main reason that people started to embraced the UFC (back in the days), and now all these other MMA companies, is the realness and sport application of the art itself, the purity and integrity of the fights. Not a sport where politics, money, and power decide what fighters are protected and what the outcomes of matches will be. For that, WWF/WWE or whatever its called these days seems way more entertaining, or perhaps even “Days of our Lives” for that matter.

The bottom line is that, if promoters want Kimbo Slice to evolve and become a respected MMA fighter, get him halfway decent MMA fighters to fight. Not a retired 44-year old guy, who as a fighter: peaked between 1993-1996, hasn’t won a fight in almost 5 years, hasn't even fought since 2006, and most likely not even in competition-shape. As a matter of fact, even in Shamrock’s last 2 fights, Tito Ortiz absolutely pulverized him. Now, we’re talking about Tito "Jameson" Ortiz, a guy who at that point in his career/life couldn’t have been...

  • UFC 87 Results: Georges St Pierre Brock Lesnar Win by Unanimous Decision

UFC 87 Results Georges St Pierre Brock Lesnar Win by Unanimous Decision: What an incredible difference it is to watch UFC 87 Seek and Destroy, to an MMA event filled with incapable opponents going against overmatched fighters…um (cough), Affliction. In what was anticipated as the best fight card of the summer, UFC 87 lived up to its expectations and beyond. With a full sold-out Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, hometown favorite Brock Lesnar was -220 betting odds (money line) favorite over Heath Herring (+180), and Georges St. Pierre was -400 over Jon Fitch (+300).

In a fight card filled with great match ups, and big name fighters, UFC 87 gave MMA fans all over the US a sense of fulfillment. By far the best part of the evening was when BJ Penn stepped in the octagon after St. Pierre’s overwhelming victory.

In the heavyweight division, Brock Lesnar, proved to be a worthy opponent for years to come. Not only did he get passed the first round against a seasoned opponent, but he dictated the pace for the entire match.

In the opening stanza, Lesnar attacked early and often, overpowering the “Texas Crazy Horse”. Brock Lesnar not only showed he belongs, but he also proved to be a force to be reckoned with.

Heath Herring, being the experienced fighter that he is, did his best to minimize the damage imposed by the beastly Lesnar. At the end, it was not enough, as Brock Lesnar earned his first UFC win via unanimous decision.

In the main event of the evening, the number one contender, Jon Fitch, took on perhaps one of the best welterweights ever in Georges St. Pierre. GSP dominated the fight from round one, to the culminating moments of the fight. With his extraordinary well-rounded game, GSP proved to be one of the most unstoppable forces at 170 lbs. Round one belonged to GSP, by an overwhelming 10-8.

Rounds two and three, were once again dominated by the reigning champion (10-9). Rounds four and five, followed the same pattern, as GSP displayed a great standup, ground game, and he pretty much outdid everything Jon Fitch threw at him. In the end, GSP retained his welterweight belt, by unanimous decision.

One of the most exciting moments of this evening came when BJ Penn joined GSP in his triumphant moment to challenge him in front of the world. GSP’s response was he would fight anyone, at any time.

Here are other notable UFC 87 Seek and Destroy results:

Damian Maia (-260) defeats Jason McDonald (+200) by submission (rear naked choke, tap out)

Kenny Florian (-160) defeated Roger Huerta (+140) by unanimous decision

Rob Emerson (+250) recorded an impressive 12-second first round TKO victory over Manuel Gamburyan (-325)

  • UFC 87: Brock Lesnar vs Heath Herring Prediction

UFC 87: Brock Lesnar vs Heath Herring Prediction: Tonight’s UFC 87 Seek and Destroy featured Heavyweight bout promises to be an exciting, action packed, brutal clash between two UFC giants: newcomer/fan favorite Brock Lesnar (1-1-0) vs. seasoned/always dangerous Heath “The Texas Crazy Horse” Herring (29-13-1). According to Odds-makers at BodogLife.com, Brock Lesnar (-240) continues to be the betting odds Money Line favorite to be victorious over the tough Heath Herring (+190).

Even though Brock Lesnar has yet to win a fight in the UFC, one thing he has proven is that he is willing to fight some of the biggest names and best fighters out there.

If you want to talk about being thrown into the fire, in his fist UFC fight (second MMA fight ever) Lesnar’s opponent was none other than former Heavyweight champion Frank Mir (11-3-0).

In his UFC debut, Brock Lesnar showed he had a ways to go, and plenty to learn before he could accomplish his goal of becoming the greatest UFC Heavyweight champion ever. However, Lesnar gave a great deal of hope to the UFC, in a division that lacks great, consistent, big-name fighters.

From the opening seconds of the match, Lesnar absolutely dominated Frank Mir. Brock jumped on Mir immediately, and applied ample pressure on the more experienced fighter. The more aggressive Lesnar, drove the former champ to the ground, and literary holding him down, landing some powerful bombs to his face. Nevertheless, due to his inexperience, Lesnar eventually got caught. While taking a beating, and looking almost hopeless, Frank Mir was able to get a hold of Lesnar’s right leg, and it was over just like that. Mir, a submission specialist, was victorious in first round submission (leg lock). Tonight, Lesnar will be facing yet another solid, season, and dangerous fighter in Heath Herring.

Currently 2-2, since merging over to the UFC from Japan, Herring has victories over Cheik Kongo (split decision), and Brad Imes (unanimous decision). Meanwhile, his 2 defeats have come against Antonio Nogueira and Jake O’Brien, both by unanimous decision. It is worth noting that this guy has great stamina (has gone the distance in every UFC fight), and at 6’ 4” 250 lbs, his size and agility making him a very dangerous opponent against Brock Lesnar.

  • Jenna Jameson Pregnant with Tito Ortiz Love Child

Jenna Jameson Pregnant with Tito Ortiz Love Child: It has been reported and confirmed that MMA’s golden couple, Jenna Jameson and Tito Ortiz, are expecting their first child. The 34-year-old adult megastar, Jameson, is “thrilled” about the news of becoming a mommy. MMA lines for the Saturday's August 9th, UFC 87 "Seek and Destroy" fight card, are now available at BodogLife.com, including: George St-Pierre and Brock Lesnar.

According to the report, this is something Jenna has been wanting for a very long time, and the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is the lucky guy.

Allegedly, Jenna had been trying very hard (for lack of a better term) to get pregnant during her marriage to Jay Grdina, but to no avail. Jameson’s turbulent union with Grdina ended in 2006, when they decided to get divorced, and parted ways.

The 33-year-old, former Ultimate Fighting Light-Heavyweight Champion, Tito Ortiz, retired earlier this year (from the UFC) after 13 years of exploits and controversy. Ortiz’s last fight in the octagon came in May of 2008, in UFC 84: “Ill Will”. In UFC 87, George "Rush" St-Pierre (-340) continues to be a heavy betting odds favorite against Jon Fitch (+260).

In his UFC farewell-fight, the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy”, was defeated (unanimous decision) by sensational Karateka-newcomer, Lyoto Machida (13-0-0). Tito Ortiz has expressed his desires to continue his career as a mix martial artist, just not with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Newcomer wrestling fan-favorite, Brock Lesnar, continues to be the overwhelming favorite in his bout against heath Herring. Brock Lesnar is a -250 betting odds favorite to defeat Heath "The Texas Crazy Horse" Herring (+190).
